A New Year, New Challenges, and Exciting Opportunities for MPPA

Danny Mays | Published on 1/11/2024
Dear MPPA Members,

Happy New Year! I am honored to serve as your President in 2024. The journey ahead promises to be an exciting one, filled with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and continued excellence in the field of public procurement.

As we embark on this new chapter together, it's impossible to ignore the unique challenges we've faced over the past 4 years. The resilience and adaptability demonstrated by our community have been nothing short of remarkable. Emerging from the shadows of uncertainty, we now have the chance to redefine our strategies, strengthen our bonds, and shape the future of public procurement in Maryland.

This year, our focus at MPPA is clear: we aim to engage our membership in diverse and meaningful ways. By fostering connections, promoting knowledge-sharing, and creating a sense of belonging, we hope to ensure that each member feels an integral part of our dynamic community.

I am particularly excited to announce the historic first Maryland Procurement Forum, scheduled to take place in Annapolis on March 11th. This groundbreaking event, co-presented with the Maryland Department of General Services, will be a platform for us to exchange insights, explore innovations, and collectively contribute to the evolution of procurement practices in our great state.

The Forum represents just one of the many initiatives we have planned for the year ahead. Through workshops, webinars, and networking events, we aim to provide valuable opportunities for professional development, learning, and collaboration. I encourage each of you to actively participate, share your expertise, and help us create a vibrant and supportive community.

Leading MPPA is a responsibility I do not take lightly, and I am committed to fostering an environment where each member's voice is heard and valued. I call upon you to engage actively, share your ideas, and inspire others to contribute to the procurement profession. Let us collectively strive to elevate our field, leaving a lasting impact on the public procurement landscape in Maryland.

In closing, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the trust you have placed in me as your President. Together, we have the power to make 2024 a year of growth, innovation, and camaraderie. Let's embark on this journey with enthusiasm, dedication, and a shared commitment to the excellence that defines the Maryland Public Purchasing Association.

Thank you, and here's to a successful year ahead!

Warm regards,

Danny Mays, CPPO, CPPB, NIGP-CPP, CPSM, CPSD, CMPO
