A Message from your President

2023 - Exciting Year Planned


Hello Chapter Members,

We are preparing for an exciting year – this year, we have several events that we are hosting and looking to revitalizing the Chapter activities with both in-person and virtual meetings and events.

General Membership meetings will be hosted on the 2nd Thursday of the March, May, July, September, and November starting at 11:00. These meetings will be either virtual or hybrid meetings. March will be virtual General Membership. The May General Membership will be in-person event as we take the time to recognize and acknowledge our administrative support staff – we encourage all members to bring their support staff to the meeting in May.

March is Purchasing Month – this is time we focus and promote our profession and acknowledge our accomplishments. Take the time and toot your horn – promote yourselves – I know that I am proud of who we are and what we do. Take the time to recognize you and your fellow, purchasing officer. Thank you! Thank you for what you do each and every day – it’s a thankless job at times but I appreciate each and every one of you. I am proud to be part of a unique profession that shows continuous growth and recognized.

The Chapter will be providing a one-day training event on March 23 and webinars on various topics, please be sure to participate in these events. These webinars will be open to all procurement professionals.

Mark your calendars - We are excited to be hosting this year’s Area 2 Conference. The Conference will be held in September in Ocean City. We are looking for forward to your participation. We are calling for Volunteers to help with the conference – please contact Ms. Janile Scott and / or Ms. Tanya Parker. Your participation is greatly appreciated and valued.

The Chapter wants to hear from you – please bring forth your ideas and training. What can we do better?

The Maryland Public Purchasing Association, Inc. (MPPA) is a professional organization comprised of over 300 procurement professionals throughout the State. MPPA, Inc. members represent various public purchasing entities including the federal government, state, cities, counties, colleges and universities, libraries, hospitals, commissions and other public agencies. MPPA, Inc. is the local chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), which has over 70 chapters in the United States, Canada, and internationally.
